Yesterday, someone very close to me had a panic attack.
She simply came to see me and mentioned she couldn't breathe and that she felt like she was not far from suffocating.
Of course, with the maternal/healing instinct that I have, I immediately told her to sit down and take deep breaths with me.
"Breathe in, breathe out. Make sure when breathing in that your stomach is expanding and not shrinking, that's the trick."
This helped a little, but she was still shaking and still felt like her heart was going to come out of her chest.
I headed to my essential oils/supplement cabinet (of course, I have a whole closet of it! 😂) and grabbed some coconut oil and eucalyptus essential oil and mixed the two in a small bowl.
I made sure to put a few tablespoons of coconut oil and 3-4 drops of Eucalyptus since the smell is quite strong. I put some of the formula on my wrist and asked her to breathe it deeply into her lungs.
I then added some of the formula near both of her nostrils, so she would have the full experience and continued to breathe with her. Within minutes her heart rate and blood pressure dropped, and she started to really breathe again.
I laid her down on the couch and played a guided meditation directed toward stress and anxiety and gave her a 25-minute aromatherapy massage while this was playing. I started to feel her calm energy and realized that this has drastically affected her in the best of ways.
When the massage was over, she was in such serenity and peace and didn't stop thanking me for helping her. I'm not yet certified in aromatherapy, but I've been reading so much about its powerful effects and have been practicing it for quite a while.
This grand moment for me was a proof of concept, because:
1. This has helped her tremendously.
2. I realized that this was a skill I was talented at and that I wanted to pursue.
3. The power of aromatherapy should never be underestimated.
I wanted to share this experience with you because so many people out there wouldn't even know where to begin and deal with their stress.
We are all stressed and deal with high levels of anxiety throughout our lives, and it has never been more crucial to take the time and BREATHE, to know how to handle the stress and to use what nature has given us.
I urge you to challenge yourself the next time you have high anxiety or stress, and to take deep breaths, breathe in some eucalyptus oil and meditate. Type in "relaxation music" or "guided anxiety meditation" on YouTube and let your mind be blown away by such powers.
If you're not already aware, stress is number one when it comes to harming the body and can come in the form of many diseases. Take control of your body by empowering the mind and being prepared the next time things don't go your way!
